Devotion's by Deborah

Writer: Deborah BoehmDeborah Boehm

Devotion 4-16-24, Psalm 119:1- "How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the Lord." "How blessed" means what it also means in Matthew 5, in the Sermon on the Mount. It indicates a person who is happy, fortunate, to be envied, or emulated. This "blessed" person is to be the example we follow. "Whose way is blameless" is repeated several other places in God's Word. Blameless sounds impossible until you know God; with God, you may be found undefiled, upright, true, and sincere. It is not your doing, but God's work in your heart. That result is blameless behavior. It is the interior transformative work of the Holy Spirit who produces one who loves God, loves his neighbor, and who will intentionally walk in "the law of the Lord." This "law of the Lord" is the revealed will of God, His word clearly indicated throughout the Bible. God's will for relationship, His requirements for relationship, are clearly laid down. Only through the cleansing blood of Jesus and indwelling action of the Holy Spirit, are we able to enter in and continue in this God-ordained relationship. "Walking" in the relationship indicates our desire to conduct our lives, our conversations, and our actions to line up with the whole of God's revealed will. Your heart reveals your ways. Proverbs 11:20- "The perverse in heart are an abomination to the Lord, But the blameless in their walk are His delight." Proverbs 13:6- "Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, But wickedness subverts the sinner." This is all or nothing, not a lukewarm mix. Decide!
