Devotion's by Deborah

Devotion 4-1-24, Psalm 103:1- "Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name." How do we do that? How are we, finite flesh, supposed to bless the Lord, Creator, Sustainer, and Lover of our souls? David, our psalmist, says, in verse 2, we must not forget His benefits. What are they? He pardons our sins and heals diseases. He takes us out of the pit of the world of Satan and transfers us to His Kingdom of lovingkindness and compassion. He offers life for death, heaven instead of hell. Verses 11-12- "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness (and mercy) toward those who fear (revere) Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions (our rebellious acts) from us." God, our Father, has compassion, knowing our makeup. Verse 14, "For He Himself, knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust." We are weak, but He is strong. We are fallible, prone to distraction and wrong decisions. However, God may not be put in a human mold; He is the Maker! Verses 17-18- "But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To those who keep His covenant And remember His precepts (guiding principles) to do them." God has given us forgiveness and life and all we need to guide us in His ways. His precepts are in His Word, nuggets of truth to be mined for life. As we bless Him, we desire to please Him. As we bless Him, we direct our hearts to serve Him. As we bless Him, we receive from Him. O bless the Lord all my soul!
