Devotion 2-9-24, Hebrews 13:5c- "He Himself has said, “I will never desert you , nor will I ever forsake you,” Are you aware of God's promises? Do you believe His promises? It is easy enough to read some of God's word, just for the sake of reading. You may not even notice the promises if you are reading with only half of your attention. If you lazily read God's word, you do not really find depending on God necessary. But if you actually "read" to absorb, read to learn, and read to remember, you will come across some quite amazing promises. Some of those promises will leap off the page at you! They do that because you are reading with intent and because you either need them this minute or will need them quite soon. Whenever you find a promise, mark it, write it in a promise journal, and begin memorizing it, so it stays with you. Here, God promises His undying, never-ending, always with you, never deserting or forsaking you, presence! What a promise! You think - "unless I screw up," right? No! Always and forever, He is with you. Do you think – "well I was in this or that crisis and I needed God and He didn't seem to be there." No! We do not walk by feelings or Impressions; instead, we stand solidly on God's word and His promises. We exercise faith in God! His promises are always true. He will never leave you or forsake you. He is with you and for you! Not only that, He even goes ahead of you! Deuteronomy 31: 8 says, "The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” God's got you! There is no need to cry out in agitation and despair. Yes, we cry in grief, but even then, God cries with us. Jesus wept. He knows your heart and needs. Know God's promises to you. He is always with you!
